Driven by the fundamental belief that the richness of life increases through Jewish education, CFJE’s mission is to advance Jewish learning throughout metropolitan Chicago. Serving more than 25,000 students from early childhood through adult, we aim to make Jewish education more innovative, engaging, collaborative, experiential and Israel-oriented. CFJE launches cutting edge program models that are utilized in communities nationwide, helping us achieve our ultimate goal: creating a community of education.

PENINA BERDUGO RECEIVES 2008 GRINSPOON-STEINHARDT AWARD

Congratulations to Penina Berdugo of the Chicago Jewish Day School, recipient of a 2008 Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. The award recognizes outstanding classroom Jewish educators across North America.

HOMELAND, SECOND EDITION, WINNER OF SIX AWARDS INCLUDING THE NATIONAL JEWISH BOOK AWARD

Since its pupblication in April 2007, more than 7,500 copies of  HOMELAND: The Illustrated History of the State of Israel,  have been sold at Nachshon Press, in bookstores nationwide, and on-line including through Amazon.com.

The Second Edition of HOMELAND was released in December 2008. This updated edition, the history of the State of Israel from biblical times through July 2008, includes the Winograd Commission Report on the war in Lebanon, the threat to Israel by Iran and Israel's 60th anniversary as a State.

Widely regarded as the finest program for adult Jewish education in the world, the Florence Melton Adult Mini-Schools have opened registration for the 2009-10 year. Join a diverse group of committed adult learners; knowledge of Hebrew not required. Limud North at Temple Jeremiah in Northfield, and Lakeview School at Anshe Emet Synagogue in Chicago.
