Driven by the fundamental belief that the richness of life increases through Jewish education, CFJE’s mission is to advance Jewish learning throughout metropolitan Chicago. Serving more than 25,000 students from early childhood through adult, we aim to make Jewish education more innovative, engaging, collaborative, experiential and Israel-oriented. CFJE launches cutting edge program models that are utilized in communities nationwide, helping us achieve our ultimate goal: creating a community of education.

CFJE ANNUAL DINNER TO HONOR MARC SACKS
March 18, 2010


Marc Sacks is more than deserving of this special honor. As a member of the CFJE Board and Executive Committee he has been a staunch advocate for the agency. Marc’s strong grasp of immediate and long term pressing issues facing the CFJE and the community has been extremely valuable in the agency’s strategic planning. Marc believes strongly in the power of exciting, informal Jewish education and has demonstrated particular commitment to our Israel and Hebrew programs, most notably Ta’am Yisrael. He has been deeply engaged in critical strategic conversations addressing ways to continuously strengthen and grow the Ta’am Yisrael program. (Read more)

"HOMELAND," WITH 6 AWARDS IN TOW, RELEASES 2nd EDITION

A new, second edition of HOMELAND: The Illustrated History of the State of Israel updates the history of the State of Israel from biblical times through July 2008, including the Winograd Commission Report on the war in Lebanon, the threat to Israel by Iran and Israel's 60th anniversary as a State.

NEW PROGRAM FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD PARENTS

JRC, Gan Yeladim and Beth Emet Preschools are partnering with the CFJE and the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School to bring Foundations of Jewish Family Living, a new, 14 session course
featuring stories and texts that convey the core values of Judaism. It is a rich, thought-provoking experience that will provide parents of pre-school age children the learning, the language, and the lessons to bring the Jewish conversation home to share with their young children.
